With this spectacular thesis the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf is focusing for the first time on an important chapter in the recent history of photography: the transatlantic influence on photography in the 1970s and 1980s. Right at the heart of this chapter is a friendship between three artists that was forged in New York in the year 1973. It was in this sprawling American metropolis that the 26-year-old Stephen Shore met the Düsseldorf photographer Hilla Becher, whose typological photographic documentation of water-towers, which she had put together with her husband, Bernd Becher, had gone on display at Ileana Sonnabend’s renowned gallery the previous year. Two years later, Stephen Shore and the Bechers became the only col...Exposition A New View of Architectural Photography from the National Museums in Berlin The Art Library is reopening its newly reconstructed Kaisersaal (Emperor's Hall) at the Museum of Photography with a show of hidden treasures of architectural photography from the collections of the National Museums. It was collected for the purpose of documenting ethnological and archeological expeditions, to archive architectural monuments or as an art form in its own right. An impressive panorama of the most diverse architectural motifs unfolds, ranging from the beginnings of photography to today: to mention but a few, there are images of bamboo huts from the Ethnological Museum, of temples from the Egyptian Museum, of Indian mosques from the Museum of Asian A...Exposition Urban Spaces Andreas Gursky, Candida Höfer , Axel Hütte, Thomas Ruff , Thomas Struth Fundación Proa presents the exhibition Urban Spaces: Andreas Gursky, Candida Höfer, Axel Hütte, Thomas Ruff, Thomas Struth.
