Let’s recollect some of the most memorable lip-locks of all time.
© Alexander Borodulin.
Is it the kiss from a handsome prince that would bring Sleeping Beauty back to life? Or the kiss of Judas? Or a so called “Eskimo kiss” with a tip of the nose? Perhaps, a fraternal embrace of comrade Brezhnev? Or all covered with gold The kiss by Gustav Klimt? Perhaps, you may recall a movie kiss? Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh’s in Gone With the Wind or the passionate and tragic embrace outside the trenches in Mikhail Kalatozov’s The Cranes Are Flying? What melodies come to your mind? “Besa me mucho” by Consuelo Velasquez or “Every step you take…” by The Police? A kiss is the most natural way of expressing sentiments of love and tenderness.

Eleven Fine Art and the Norman Parkinson Archive are pleased to announce an exhibition celebrating Norman Parkinson’s influential contributions to fashion photography specifically through his work for Vogue. The exhibition has been organised to coincide with the National Portrait Gallery’s Vogue 100: A Century in Style (11th February to 22nd May 2016) where a number of Norman Parkinson’s works will be shown.
In a career that spanned over five decades, Norman Parkinson photographed for Vogue for most of this time. He worked consistently for British Vogue from 1941 to 1960, and after a stint at Queen, returned again in 1965 working with British Vogue through 1975. His long association with Vogue brought him worldwide recognition and he is now considered one of the twentieth century’s foremost fas...

On Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at 6:30PM, the Fondazione Forma per la Fotografia, will present the opening of the exhibit Fashion. A century of extraordinary photography from the Condé Nast archives.
“We have to make Vogue into a Louvre.”
Edward Steichen to Edna Woodman Chase, 1920s
These words said by Steichen to the first editor in chief of Vogue aptly summarized the revolution started by Condé Nast, both in fashion as well as in photography more generally, when the publisher acquired the prestigious Vogue masthead in 1909. From then on, the story of fashion was no longer told exclusively in delicate nineteenth-century illustrations, but also by great international photographers with creative license. Edward Steichen was one of the first photographer to shoot for Vogue, accepti...

The program of the varying exhibitions sets diverse priorities: firstly, the gallery shows selected "classic" black and white photography from the 20th Century and secondly it presents young artists which are exhibited continuously by regular shows and trade fair presence.

Gallery Camera Work in Berlin presents from September 20th until November 15th an exhibition of fashion photography of the 20th and 21st centuries. This group exhibition provides a representative overview of the development of fashion photography from its beginnings in the 1920s to the present time. With over 250 works of a total of 65 photographers - many of which are vintages - one can trace the different trends of fashion photography.
The spectrum of the photographs on display ranges from the sometimes classic compositions of an Edward Steichen to the experimental photographs of Man Ray, from the sexual revolution to the resulting emancipation of women as shown for example by Helmut Newton, from the cool elegance of the 1990s - influenced by Peter Lindbergh - to the highly imaginative works of a Tim Walker. On...
The international photographers in this exhibition undress the theatre of fashion and question the creation of perfect beauty. Fashion in the Mirror is an overview of their self-examination and a rare look behind-the-scenes of fashion photography from the 1950s to the present day.
Finding both comedy and poetry in the set-up of the studio, the exhibiting photographers turn their cameras on the processes and paraphernalia of the fashion shoot. Photographers become mirrored in their own work and, as viewpoints are inverted and gazes misdirected, cameras stare back out at us expectantly.
Revealing the fashion industry’s secrets and undermining its glamorous illusions, the photographers in this exhibition create work that exposes this world from within.
