Ils montrent les différentes communautés qui composent l'Europe, issu...Concours Jitka Hanzlova announced as winner of the Paris Photo Prize for contemporary photography Jitka Hanzlova, Winner of the 2007 BMW -- Paris Photo Prize for contemporary photography

Engstrom, Charles Freger,...Exposition The exhibition PORTRAITS Press release

Representations of animals are ubiquitous in our culture, from advertising hoardings, to newspapers and television, to hundreds of thousands of images uploaded every day to the internet. Human beings, it seems, are obsessed by the image of the animal. Animals are also consistently subjects of public controversy, whether in relation to animal rights, agro-industrialisation, conservation or genetic engineering.
Over the last two decades, artists have sought to question...Exposition Exhibition : One to One by Jitka Hanzlová Yancey Richardson Gallery is pleased to present One to One, the gallery’s second solo show of photographs by Czechoslovakian-born artist Jitka Hanzlová. Developed between 2007 and 2014, the exhibition’s images meditate on the figure of the horse, a subject as old as the history of art, and express the artist’s profoundly personal relationship with these animals while renewing the role of the horse as a subject for artistic exploration.
The title One to One refers to the relationship between human and horse, which must remain equal despite their inequity in physical power, and comments on the parallel relationship between man and horse for over six thousand years. As Jesus Carrillo Castillo notes in his essay for the retrospective catalog Jitka Hanzlová, “Images of horses in the me...Exposition La Fundatiòn Mapfre présente la première exposition de Jitka Hanzlová en Espagne
Of great interest today, landscape photography is generally characterised by the horizon as an aid to perception. Within the international discourse on contemporary landscape photography, the present exhibition is the first to focus on those artistic visions which, each in its own way, mask and eliminate the horizon as the line separating earth from sky.
The process of perceiving and experiencing land as landscape is a phenomenon that originated in the art of the early modern age. Ever since the Renaissance, Western artists have employed perspective with its prominent horizon as a method to depict the threedimensional world. From the beginning of the twentieth century, however, this pattern of perception and representation has been transcended, as numerous artistic developments show.
In ph...Exposition WORLD - IMAGES 3 In 2005 and 2007, Helmhaus Zürich presented the first and second parts of its World - Images exhibition series. The project now continues with the third part, accompanied, as always, by a publication. One of the main aims of this project is to find out more about the different ways in which artists transpose their views of the world into the medium of photography, especially in an age of media overkill. The exhibition shows a vibrant cross-section of contemporary photography.
World - Images 3 covers a range of individual visual worlds and worldviews. Each of the eight artists featured in this exhibition has a distinctive approach in terms of creative expression, subject matter and in terms of the social and geographic setting that is the focus of their work.
