Exhibition : Adam Fuss Daguerreotypes & The Womb of the Pre-Raphaelite Imagination
Press release
NEW YORK – Hans P. Kraus Jr. Fine Photographs will present the exhibition Adam Fuss Daguerreotypes & The Womb of the Pre-Raphaelite Imagination from September 28 – December 2, 2016. Over three decades, British born, New York-based photographer Adam Fuss has created a body of work that combines photographic techniques of the past with contemporary materials. His pinhole photographs and cameraless photograms, executed with technical rigor in a variety of media, have dealt with temporality, memory, regeneration, and death. This exhibition presents a remarkable suite of Fuss’s large-scale daguerreotypes that deepens his exploration into these themes. These are the largest daguerreotypes ever made. Prefacing the exhibition is Fuss’s selection of 19th-century daguerreotypes of nudes... - Exposition
Exhibition : « ? The Image as Question » at Michael Hoppen Gallery
Michael Hoppen Gallery's press release
Part of the fascination with all photography is that the medium is firmly grounded in the documentary tradition. It has been used as a record of crime scenes, zoological specimens, lunar and space exploration, phrenology, fashion and importantly, art and science. It has been used as ‘proof’ of simple things such as family holidays and equally of atrocities taking place on the global stage. Any contemporary artist using photography has to accept the evidential language embedded in the medium.
In this exhibition the Michael Hoppen Gallery exhibits a myriad of different images including 19th, 20th c. and contemporary works of art. Seemingly disparate these images have a shared gravitas, a weightiness that emanates from their documentary function. Many ... - Exposition
Exhibition : « The Memory of Time », Contemporary Photographs at the National Gallery of Art
In the decades since 1990, the concepts of time and memory have been frequently explored by photographers who seek not simply to reflect the world but to illuminate how photography constructs our understanding of it. This exhibition explores the work of twenty-six contemporary artists—such as Sophie Calle (b. 1953), Adam Fuss (b. 1961 ), Idris Khan (b.1978), Vera Lutter (b. 1960), Sally Mann (b. 1951), Chris McCaw (b. 1971), Christian Marclay (b. 1955), and Carrie Mae Weems (b. 1953)—who investigate the complex and resonant relationship of photography to time, memory, and history.

Adam Fuss - The Space Between Garden and Eve
Xavier Hufkens has the pleasure to present a new exhibition by Adam Fuss. The Space Between Garden and Eve is the fifth solo exhibition by the artist at the gallery.
The British artist Adam Fuss lives in New York. For almost three decades he has brought photography back to its essence: the projection of a light source on a medium. He applies old techniques that were the origin of photography—such as photograms or daguerreotypes. He makes photographs without using a camera, as it were. His choice of subjects demonstrates poetic sensitivity. In a series of works from 2007, for example, he sensorially depicts the concentric circles formed by water drops. He creates shadow images between disappearance and appearance, which witness timeless beauty—like a modern alchemist.

Adam Fuss - A Survey of his Work: 1986/2010 at Huis Marseille
This exhibition comprises approximately fifty images by Adam Fuss, dating from 1986 to the present, with examples from his major series as well as the premier of his most recent efforts. The selection will not only gather images that the artist believes to be among his best examples, but also together will recreate the ambiance of a location sacred to him. It has been organized by Fundación MAPFRE (Madrid) in close consultation with the artist and Cheryl Brutvan, Curator of Contemporary Art at the Norton Museum (West Palm Beach, Florida) and curator of his first survey in the United States. Especially for his exhibition at Huis Marseille, Adam Fuss has made a selection of photographs from his own photo collection. The selection consists of historical and recent, often anonymous, but very curious images.

CONTRADICTIONS in BLACK and WHITE
HASTED HUNT is pleased to announce "CONTRADICTIONS in BLACK and WHITE: Photographs by Margaret Bourke-White, Harry Callahan, Michael Flomen, Adam Fuss, Nathan Harger, Idris Kahn, Vera Lutter, Raymond K. Metzker, Irving Penn and Horacio Salinas". The exhibition opens on January 8, 2009 and runs through February 28, 2009. There will be a reception on Thursday, January 8th from 6 to 8 PM.
The photographs in "Contradictions in Black and White" all deal with representation and abstraction, as well as chaos and order, artists making aesthetic sense of disparate elements. They make the real unreal and vice versa. The most basic contradiction is black against white, with light the essential and existential tool of photography used in search of meaning. The images in the exhibition are Modernist and formal...
