À travers ces moments de pose avec ses modèles, la photographe finnoise a cherché à retrouver l'atmosphère des photographies anciennes quand se faire photographier était un évènement rare. Cet album accompagne l'exposition au Ordrupgaard, Charlottenlund, au Danemark du 8 février au 1er avril 2013 et au Finnish Museum of Photography d'Helsinki en Finlande du 16 janvier au 21 avril 2013; photographies en noir et blanc.

Exhibition : « About ten » by Nelli Palomäki
Palomäki’s photographs deal with the growth, memory and our problematic way of seeing ourselves. One of the crucial themes in her portraiture is our mortality. Now Palomäki exhibits her portraits also in color. ‘These new works found their colors by accident. I have always seen my photographs in black and white, already when looking through the viewfinder.’

About ten deals with the way we confront our own image and the way we transform ourselves into this image. Palomäki often chooses children as her subject, children that are in the ambivalent age. NELLI PALOMÄKI – SONS OF NAKHIMOV At the Wapping Project Bankside
The Wapping Project Bankside now represents Finnish artist Nelli Palomäki (b. 1981). We are delighted to exhibit her latest series Sons of Nakhimov (2011-2012) for the first time in the UK, following recent exhibitions at Les Rencontres d’Arles (July 2012) and Kulturhuset, Stockholm, Sweden (January 2012). Nelli Palomäki is one of the most celebrated artists to have emerged from the Helsinki School and Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture. She was nominated in this year’s Discovery Award at Les Rencontres d’Arles and is currently planning a large solo exhibition at the Finnish Museum of Photography, Helsinki (2013). Her new book will be published this winter (Hatje Cantz).
