This exhibition highlights a photography period, which shortly before the close of its historical development in the 1980s underwent a complete deconstruction and subsequent renewal with respect to its aesthetic, tradition and thematic concerns. Furthermore, the selected works illuminate the period through a re-examination of these significant representatives. Works by these artists are also exhibited in the comprehensive exhibition, Das rebellische Bild (The rebellious image) in Museum Folkwang, and within this context these pioneering works are showcased in their development and as work-in-progress installations using original vintage materials. This occasion is also an exceptional opportunity to acquire unique works and countless artefacts of that era, including vintage prints that hav... - Exposition
The Galerie AG for Contemporary Art presents Knut Wolfgang Maron
The Galerie AG for Contemporary Art in Schwerin shows from the 8th of March Dakota Bar with works by Knut Wolfgang Maron from the cycles Dakota Bar, barns and rotten cars and Von Profanem und Heiligem.
It is the subjective, personal concernment that turns a thing into an object of sacred importance or commonplace irrelevance. With his works, Maron questions this ambivalence and thus deliberately unsettles the spectator’s cultural background. Through the focus of the artist profanities evolve into sacred objects or vice versa.

THE ESTATE- RECORD OF A LIFE
Knut Wolfgang Maron:
"My mother died at the age of 82. Shortly before her death she still was able to ride her bicycle to take care of her home and do the shopping on her own.
All of a sudden she felt sharp pain in her bones. The first diagnosis of leukemia was not pursued by her family physician or by others. She was sent from one hospital to another. The experts did not explore the possibility of leukemia and decided that she had osteoporosis. This was the wrong diagnosis. They did not give her the only treatment that could have saved her. She had a curable leukemia, but it was treated too late. She lost 12 kilograms and shrank to one meter 40 centimeters. She had to suffer.
Every minute that I was available, I spent with my mother. I cooked for her. I organized t... - Exposition

" The extraordinariness of Knut Maron's universe does not lie in astonishing forms or new themes. Its profound distinctiveness is not the consequence of breaking through hitherto accepted boundaries of art. Instead it results from a meditative reversion to art itself, from transcending its timeless truths.
Knut Maron doesn't shock us, he just sees things differently. His art doesn't participate in modern civilisation's innate urge to advance with technological breakthroughs and revolutionary ambitions. And that's exactly how it evades a last restraint, the desire to serve or adhere to the development of the society around us.
By bringing the prerequisites of his medium in accordance with the command of a newly created universe, he avoids the need to gloss over or to prove anything. A... - Exposition
Knut Maron s'exhibe à la Galerie Zone E
For the first time, the pioneer of German contemporary colour photography, Knut Wolfgang Maron, shows a sample of his sweeping new American series. The aesthetic he develops examines the Vanitas of the American dream, its faded relics shining only in decay. In this scenario variation of Brave New World, the American dream becomes a nicely coloured nightmare.
