Caochangdi Photospring ; Arles in Beijing
We are pleased to announce the launch of the first annual Caochangdi PhotoSpring on April 17th, 2010. The Caochangdi PhotoSpring is working in a three-year partnership with "Les Rencontres d'Arles" Photography Festival. This will be the very first time that Arles' programs will be shown outside of France.
For the past forty years, "Les Rencontres d'Arles" has been the meeting point of photography artists, professionals, and amateurs alike, who come to the southern French city to discover the new talents of photography and rediscover its celebrated masters.
The Caochangdi art district was born in northeastern Beijing in 2000 and has since flourished into a vibrant artistic hub with numerous galleries, art institutions, and artists' studios. The aim of the Caochangdi PhotoSpring is to build a plat... - Exposition
12 Russian Winters, 12 Baltic Springs at The White Space Gallery
Twelve years ago Anya Stonelake arrived in London and started White Space Gallery. In that time she has missed twelve Russian winters in her beloved St Petersburg and twelve Baltic springs but it is our good fortune that we have not. Thanks to Anya we have discovered the freshness of the New Artists and Timur Novikov from St Petersburg and the poetry of unknown Baltic photographers. Her acute sense of both what has happened and what is happening has introduced the British public to new artists and photographers from 21st century Russia and Lithuania. She has also curated the work of the Portuguese photographer Jose Pedro Cortes and our own Martin Parr.

Rimaldas Viksraitis & Martin Parr: THE REAL WORLD
The British renowned photographer Martin Parr as well as the Lithuanian photographer Rimaldas Viksraitis will be shown in Vienna for the first time!
The Gallery owner Regina Maria Anzenberger was inspired for this show by last year’s Kaunas photo festival in Lithuania, where both artists were exhibited.
The sales exhibition is accompanied by a lecture of Martin Parr at the Academy of Arts one day after the gallery opening.

Rimaldas Viksraitis Grimaces of the Weary Village
Anya Stonelake/White Space Gallery is pleased to present the first solo UK exhibition of Lithuania's most outstanding photographer, Rimaldas Viksraitis at John McAslan + Partners Architects Gallery. Championed by Martin Parr; Viksraitis won the Arles Discovery Award for New Photography in 2009.
Viksraitis has been quietly pursuing his photography for years, cycling around the desolate farms in the Lithuanian countryside with his camera tied to his bike. Being compared with the British photographer Richard Billingham, he grew up "between marshes and clay" in one of the most secluded corners of the Lithuanian Sakiai district. "You couldn't get out to the world without a large pair of wellingtons."
In this way of life that is fast disappearing, any apparent dysfunctionality, propelled by liberal dr...
