JOSEF SCHULZ, photographe allemand né en Pologne. Il a fait des études à l'Academie d'Art de Düsseldorf. Dès 1998 son travail photographique est présenté au sein d'expositions collectives, en Allemagne, puis plus récemment en Belgique et en Suisse. Il présente également des expositions personnelles dès 2000.

Promising Vintages
This fall, "vintage" has become the catchword of the international photography market and VAN HAM’s photographs sale. This auction provides a selection of exceptional vintages in the classic photography area, with examples by the artists Albert Renger-Patzsch, Laszlo Moholy-Nagy and Man Ray. The works reveal the artists’ common fascination with unusual perspectives and their drive to achieve new ways of seeing. In contemporary photography, the work “Atlantis Treppe” by Günther Förg, among others, await enthusiasts. Förg’s work consists of six photographs of a staircase from several vantage points. The images were created during the Mariposa Project.

Nature became landscape long ago. Since the Romantic period landscape has furthermore been an aesthetic position. But what is landscape for the modern human being ? The thematic exhibition "Open Landscape" provides a juxtaposition of multigenerational photographic and pictorial approaches to this question. The reference point for all participating artists is the real landscape.
The works of Thomas Wrede and Joseph Schulz increase their charm through friction between photorealistic representation extended through staging and intervention. Wrede, in his series entitled "Real Landscapes" combines the natural beauty of landscape with constructed miniature models. Yossi Milo Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of large-scale color photographs by Josef Schulz. The exhibition, entitled Form, will open on Thursday, December 11 and close on Saturday, January 31, with a reception for the artist on Thursday, December 11 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. This will be the artist’s first solo exhibition in the United States.
The works begin as traditional, analogue photographs of halls, factories and storage facilities taken with a large-format camera. Images of common, mass-produced, industrial structures are then stripped of any individualizing elements through digital manipulation.
