« Supermodels – Then and Now » at Camera Work Gallery
The self-curated exhibition shows more than 100 works of the best-known artists and a selection of outstanding fashion portrait and nude photography of the most famous supermodels of the last few decades.
According to Thomas P.Campbell, director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, a worldwide successful model needs to be able to inspire the designer and to represent his intention. In this way a model can obtain a special iconic status and her face can become an own brand. In art, the motif of a supermodel has developed into an international scheduled genre which brings up maximum prices in auctions. The CWC Gallery appreciates this development with the group exhibition Supermodels - Then and Now and presents outstanding works of photographic history from the extensive collection of Camera Work AG and partly never seen ... - Exposition
acte2galerie présente « Little Beast» d'Ellen Von Unwerth
- Exposition
Cwc Gallery presents Ellen Von Unwerth with « The Story of Olga »
Starting on December 7, the exhibition, consisting of over 40 works, shows an exclusive selection of the 2011-series about the topmodel Olga, who rediscovers the world of eroticism in Ellen von Unwerth’s photographic narration.
Fairy-tale-like sceneries with picturesque subjects, a pompous chateau or rustic stables and the lascivious eroticism of Olga entice the observer of »The Story of Olga« into an intoxicative world of passionate lust and desire. Chimerical atmospheres and unique locations create the visual space where the protagonist Olga unexpectedly experiences an erotic dream. Finding herself alone and widowed, the sexual desire grabs Olga shortly after her husband’s death. On her way to unconditional satisfaction Olga acts out her phantasies in unexpected intensity and finally finds ... - Exposition

Ellen von Unwerth - Fräulein
Ellen von Unwerth worked as a fashion model for ten years before moving behind the camera. Quoted as saying "(Women) are not just there to be admired, they are there to be enjoyed," her erotically charged images of models, film and music stars are as well know as the subjects of the photographs themselves. The Michael Hoppen Gallery is delighted to announce 'Fräulein'; a show of personal favourites and never previously seen images from the last 15 years.
The exhibition at Michael Hoppen will take place in collaboration with TASCHEN, who will be publishing a major monograph of Ellen von Unwerth's work, also entitled Fräulein. The text is written by Ingrid Sischy, the former editor in chief of Interview magazine and currently fashion critic at the New Yorker and a contributing editor for Vanity Fair....
