Anton Corbijn #Photographe
Chronique Life :

Starting July 27, 2016 and for the first time in Europe, never before shown photo-prints from the series ‚1-2-3-4’ from Anton Corbijn will be exhibited under the title ‚#5’ at the Galerie Anita Beckers in Frankfurt am Main. The images, produced between 1972 – 2014, are exclusively of musicians, including David Bowie, Johnny Cash, Kurt Cobain, Nick Cave and Patti Smith. In order to show the complete comprehensive group of works, the gallery has been able to procure a second location at the studio and exhibition house ATELIERFRANKFURT.
In the past twenty-five years, Anton Corbijn has, in addition to his music photography, photographed every artist he had interest in from the worlds of film, painting, writing and modelling. Besides photography he has taken up f...Exposition « Supermodels – Then and Now » at Camera Work Gallery The self-curated exhibition shows more than 100 works of the best-known artists and a selection of outstanding fashion portrait and nude photography of the most famous supermodels of the last few decades.
According to Thomas P.Campbell, director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, a worldwide successful model needs to be able to inspire the designer and to represent his intention. In this way a model can obtain a special iconic status and her face can become an own brand. In art, the motif of a supermodel has developed into an international scheduled genre which brings up maximum prices in auctions. The CWC Gallery appreciates this development with the group exhibition Supermodels - Then and Now and presents outstanding works of photographic history from the extensive collection of Camera Work AG and partly never seen ...Exposition CWC GALLERY presents « Supermodels – Then and Now »

Zeno X Gallery has the great pleasure to present "New Squares", the second solo exhibition by Anton Corbijn. It is the second time work of this renowned Dutch photographer is shown in the gallery. In 1976, Corbijn moved to London and came into contact with bands that inspired him. It was mainly their positive response to his work that encouraged him to continue and develop his own signature style. Meanwhile, the world has become his home and he travels from one appointment to another. Recently, his new film "A Most Wanted Man", with Philip Seymour Hoffman and Willem Dafoe in the lead roles, was presented at the Sundance Festival in Toronto. His first feature film "Control", about the life of Ian Curtis, the lead singer of Joy Division who lost his life at a young age, came out in 2007. A ...Exposition Indwards and Onwards by Anton Corbijn at the Galerie Camera Work
The large-format portraits featured in the exhibition Inwards and Onwards testify to the substantial body of artistic work that Anton Corbijn has created. Apart from striking photographs of true music legends such as Bruce Springsteen, Patti Smith or Tom Waits, who have always fascinated Corbijn, the photographer has focussed in his recent work on modern personifications of artistic inspiration such as Marlene Dumas, Gilbert & George or Jeff Koons. Working only in black and white with a Hasselblad camera, Anton Corbijn aims to reduce his photo shoots to the essential. He uses his subjects’ familiar environments as settings and works on his own with available light – assistants or artificial lighting are off-limits for him. Corbijn understands the camera as a means to an end – ultimately, he tries...Exposition Anton Corbijn - inwards and onwards, at FOAM
Foam is proud to present Anton Corbijn's most recent photographic project. In it he has aimed the camera at a few of his favourite artists, including Gerhard Richter, Alexander McQueen, Richard Prince, Iggy Pop, Anselm Kiefer, Damien Hirst, Tom Waits, Peter Doig, Bruce Springsteen, Lucian Freud and Karel Appel.
Anton Corbijn once declared his interest in portraying the pain of creation and the people who struggle with that process. Foam proudly presents Anton Corbijn's latest photographic series devoted to some of the most renowned artists of today.
Uniting an austerity principle with an aesthetic one, these black and white prints strike us both for their precision in capturing the geniality of the portrayed - in sometimes humorous, sometimes intriguing situations -, as well as for their thoughtfulness...Exposition Anton Corbijn Work Anton Corbijn's retrospective exhibition affords a glimpse into the Dutch photographer's work spanning over thirty years from early video clips to the latest star portraits. Although Corbijn experimented in several disciplines that are part of modern visual culture — as can be seen in the exhibition in the form of short films, video clips, concert-stage, book, and album-cover design — his basic medium of expression, nevertheless, was and still remains photography.
Corbijn was born in 1955 on the Dutch island of Strijen whose isolation from cultural and contemporary music, the amplification of sound and nearness of rock stars, resulted in a heightened and more intense impact on the young boy whenever live concerts took place on the island, which was considered a rare occurrence. In fact, it was the experien...Exposition FASHION 9 decades of fashion photography
Gallery Camera Work in Berlin presents from September 20th until November 15th an exhibition of fashion photography of the 20th and 21st centuries. This group exhibition provides a representative overview of the development of fashion photography from its beginnings in the 1920s to the present time. With over 250 works of a total of 65 photographers - many of which are vintages - one can trace the different trends of fashion photography.
The spectrum of the photographs on display ranges from the sometimes classic compositions of an Edward Steichen to the experimental photographs of Man Ray, from the sexual revolution to the resulting emancipation of women as shown for example by Helmut Newton, from the cool elegance of the 1990s - influenced by Peter Lindbergh - to the highly imaginative works of a Tim Walker.
