Exhibition : « Dirt Meridian » by Andrew Moore
Press release
Photographer Andrew Moore has worked along the 100th meridian for the past decade, drawn to its mythic past and the people who call the High Plains home. Based out of Rushville, Nebraska, for much of this project, Moore found an unassuming landscape that revealed a long history of challenging weather, repeated drought, and ongoing cycles of economic boom and bust. Set within the context of this demanding legacy, however, he also discovered the vitality of its inhabitants and the elegance of the plains’ spare topography. Although literally the center of the United States, its sparse population teeters between geographic isolation and its prominent role in national and global markets for agriculture, energy, and natural resources. Moore sets this dynamic against the enduring myths of a quintessential... - Exposition

« New American Work » by Andrew Moore at the Gallery F 5,6
Andrew Moore describes his photographic interest as centred in the busy intersections of history, “particularly those locations where multiple tangents of time overlap and tangle”, and thus architecture as the embodiment of culture and history is prominently reflected in his large-format photographs.
In earlier photographs, taken in places such as Cuba (1998-2002), Russia (2000-2004) and Vietnam (2006–2007), his goal was to work out nuances of the inner workings in particular locations and areas to uncover the underlying historical narrative.

Making History - Andrew Moore Photographs 1980 - 2010
We hope for better things; it will arise from the ashes," was the motto adopted by the city of Detroit, after it was ravaged by the great fire of 1805. American photographer Andrew Moore distils the spirit of this message in his haunting large-scale images of decay and renewal. From Cuba to Russia to Detroit, Moore seeks out disused, wrecked buildings and captures the moment that nature stakes her claim on their ravaged grandeur.
15 of Moore's works will go on display at Galerie Alex Daniels - Reflex in Amsterdam, from April 10 to June 7 2010. It is the first time the photographer has exhibited in The Netherlands.
The images on display are wide-ranging in their subject matter, but unified by clarity of detail as well as narrative complexity: The abandoned "Palace Theatre" Gary Indiana, once ringing wi... - Exposition

Andrew Moore Inside Havana photographies
- Exposition
Andrew Moore, photographies
- Exposition
Andrew Moore
Gallery f5,6 is proud to announce the first solo exhibition in Germany of the successful American photographer Andrew Moore. The exhibtion features an extract of the series Russia and New York (USA). The large-sized works of Andrew Moore are documents and - at the same time -"portraits" of Russia's present and New York's old theatres of 42nd Street. Moore's works not only face the visible architecture, but also portrait the nuances of their inner life. Thereby, they capture the intersection of past, presence and an often wanted utopia - and so point out Moore's steady interest in contemporary history. Andrew Moore's photographs tell the story of elapsed pomp and wealth. The past becomes the here and now, therefore also the present is observed. Nevertheless Moore denies to conserve and criticise, but highlight...
