Polixeni Papapetrou Heart, 2016
To celebrate the growing interest in photography, MAMA, through the MAMA Art Foundation, now offers a major acquisitive cash prize pool of $50,000 including the $3,000 John & Margaret Baker Memorial Fellowship for an emerging artist.
The first National Photography Prize was held in 1983 and Gael Newton and Helen Ennis jointly selected the work for purchase. Among the first works purchased were prints by Max Dupain, Mark Strizic, Richard Woldendorp and Philip Quirk.
A judging panel consisting of both internal and external representatives assess each of the prize applications to short list the works to be featured in the exhibition. Artists to be featured in this exhibition will be announced mid April 2016.
Each year the range of imagery and media has expanded and each exhibition has brought forth different approaches to the medium from both established and newly emerging practitioners.
The entry price of this exhibition is free.
The adress is MAMA, 546 Dean Street, Albury.
