Alberto Díaz Gutiérrez (Cuba, 1928-2001), better known as Korda, gained international fame through his mythical portrait of Che Guevara as a heroic warrior. But, besides this iconic photograph, Korda felt a real passion for photographing the female beauty, and created a considerable collection of portraits characterised by his particular style and use of natural light. In 1953, along with Luis Pierce, he created the Studios Korda, fundamentally devoted to advertising photography. Among the commissions he received, Korda was always ready to do many works for advertising campaigns for important commercial firms, which were always connected to female beauty as a genre. Many of these reportages were published in the magazine Carteles, the most important publication in Cuba, accompanied by texts by the writer Cabrera Infante. After the beginning of the Castro Revolution, Korda added to his everyday dynamic with the responsibility of portraying the new political and social context, by means of which the models were replaced by militia, peasants and spectator women who attended parades. He portrayed all of these without leaving them any femininity and beauty.Museo Cerralbo c/ Ventura Rodríguez, 17 28008 Madrid, Espagne
