Justin Nolan "Stages of Persuasion" displays staged spaces that aid in the controlling of human desires. The hotels, restaurants, casinos and amusement parks that he photographs have interiors that were purposely designed to idealize the notions of beauty and nature. The environment is designed to invite willing participants that enter these spaces to play within a storyline that is created for them.

Matthew Bender "Tracing like Fingers" are hyper realistic dilapidated interiors of what once were schools, spas and homes. Bender’s interest is in showing the visual tension between the reality of the space and how the camera renders it beautiful. It is through this forced visual coexistence that something else emerges. Both Nolan’s and Bender’s photographs create an elaborate fantasy of a space to be experienced by the viewer.
