The LagosPhoto Foundation presents the Akintunde Akinleye Solo Exhibition titled Each Passing Day as part of its programming for the sixth edition of LagosPhoto Festival.Red Door Gallery 51 Bishop Oluwole Street Victoria Island Nigeria
Akintunde Akinleye is the first Nigerian Photographer to have been awarded a prize in the World Press Photo awards. His iconic winning image of a man rinsing soot from his face at the scene of an oil pipeline explosion in Lagos was also made the official signage of the 19th edition of the Visa Pour’ L’image International festival of photojournalism in Perpignan, France in 2007.
Central to Akintunde’s storytelling of the post military era in Nigeria, are the trials, tribulations and joys of ordinary Nigerians, as they aspire for a better quality of life. The pictures depict a truthful rendering of each passing day in the life of resilient Nigerians and show the political, social and physical landscape in which we exist.
