Within the context of Newspace’s focus on portraiture this month, we will present an exhibition of local photographer Jake Shivery’s series Contact. The series of portraits will be exhibited as 8x10 contact prints that were captured on Shivery’s large format Deardorff camera. These photographs communicate not only the photographer’s personal relationship with his subjects, but also the character of his broad local community. The exhibition will coincide with the release of Shivery's first monograph, Contact (One Twelve Publishing), featuring approximately a hundred images and an essay by the artist. This limited-edition publication will be available for sale at Newspace throughout the month.
