The Venice Biennale - 56th International Art Exhibition
The show consists of over 136 artists from fifty-three countries, and will feature a space for live programming in the Central Pavilion designed by David Adjaye called The Arena. “The linchpin of this program will be the epic live reading of all three volumes of Karl Marx’s Das Kapital,” Enwezor states. “Here, Das Kapital will serve as a kind of Oratorio that will be continuously read live, throughout the exhibition’s seven months’ duration.”
The 56th International Art Exhibition will form a unitary itinerary that starts at the Central Pavilion (Giardini) and continues at the Arsenale, with over 136 artists from 53 countries, of whom 89 will be showing here for the first time.
After having explained in October the main topics of All the World’s Futures, Okwui Enwezor ... - Vente

Exhibition : « Black magic »
Press Release - BLACK MAGIC, the title of the exhibit, refers on the one hand to the name of the well-known, fluid photo emulsion which enables light-sensitive photographic coatings to be permanently applied to almost any surface. Yet more is involved: the idea of the alchemical transformation of a mundane material into an illuminated magical element that emancipates creativity from the equipment, and at the same time turns the products of the universe of technical images into inscribed surfaces of their own illusion and their own meaning. Photography is generally viewed as an instrument-based form of art: the camera moves between the reality that is to be represented and the creative will of the photographer; the camera as a magical instrument which, by means of the exposure to light of photochemical paper and in cooper... - Exposition
OPEN RHAPSODY : a Journey into Photography and Video Collections
- Exposition
Walead Beshty: Selected Bodies of Work
Regen Projects is pleased to present Selected Bodies of Work, an exhibition of new work by Los Angeles-based artist Walead Beshty. The show features a group of interrelated photographs, sculptures, ceramics, and collages that address bodies and labor as they are rendered visible in or on the art object. This is the artist's second solo presentation at the gallery.
On display are photograms made in the darkroom through a fixed set of predetermined constraints. Beshty's RA4 Contact Prints are produced on the now aging, and quickly deteriorating color processor on which he created his previous non-figurative color photographic works. Serrated color bands stripe their surfaces, an imprint of the processor's interior that results from its frequent jamming and misalignment, acting as indexes of the machine... - Exposition

The rapid dissemination and availability of images and videos in print media and in the Internet have led to new forms of communication through documentary images.
Often we do not know who took the picture, nor do we know how the picture has made its way to us. How are these photographic documents to be understood?
How do the schemata of seeing, understanding, deleting, and saving function in our contemporary multi-media environment ?

- Exposition
After Images - Musée Juif de Belgique
- Exposition

WALEAD BESHTY – a diagram of forces
19 February – 1 May 2011
This exhibition with the British artist Walead Beshty (b.1976) presents an overview of ten years of his photographic and sculptural work, recombining old and new pieces within site-specific installations, which turn on questions of the in-between.
Walead Beshty's works remind us how important it is to appreciate the transitory nature of daily life, especially its gaps, its pauses, and its moments of in-betweenness. This in-between time has always been central to Walead Beshty's work.
Beshty explores various issues associated with photographic representation, specifically that of transparency, and the resulting works both revisit and complicate early modernist practices. While homages to influential figures such as Lás... - Exposition
PRUNE - abstracting reality
The exhibition PRUNE – abstracting reality focuses on the complex but intriguing relationship between realism and abstraction in contemporary photography. The exhibition includes only photographic work that is based on reality but which depicts this reality with a greater or lesser degree of abstraction. On show in the exhibition is work that first and foremost can be appreciated for its abstract, formal qualities, such as form, colour and composition. Only afterward does the viewer recognise the subject rendered in the work. Then the viewer becomes aware of an underlying story and the concept employed by the photographer. Usually it is the information in the caption which compels the viewer to relate to the work in a new way.
The exhibition emphasises that abstraction of reality is always present in photography a...
