Vladimir Tarasov, né en Russie, vit en Lituanie où il joua longtemps avec l’Orchestre Symphonique, puis fut membre d’un trio de jazz contemporain, GTC, de 1971 à 1986. Il est aussi compositeur pour le cinéma, le théâtre, et divers orchestres, en Russie, aux USA et en Europe - il a composé la musique du Temps du repli de Nadj. Il travaille également avec les arts visuels et collabore avec des musiciens tels qu’Andrew Cyrille, Anthony Braxton, Lauren Newton.

The exhibition of the legendary percussionist Vladimir Tarasov at ROSPHOTO embraces audio and visual installations created within the period of the past two years. The title of the artwork, Something Going On in Front of the Sea (2011) refers to Tarasov’s first solo disc, named after the work of Yuri Dyshlenko, the outstanding artist who was born in Leningrad and tragically died in New York in 1995.
