British art photographer Veronica Bailey’s work specializes on photographic series resulting mainly from visiting archives. Her focus is on examining the nostalgic and traditional means of furthering knowledge, revealing the charm and lure of handwriting and the feel of paper in our monotonous digital age. Her works show carefully arranged everyday life objects.
In her compositions she turns books, newspapers and letters into geometrical sculptures. Faint traces of texts may be read, yet the context of each work remains enigmatic. The spectator must fully absorb the photographs in order to find his own personal interpretation.

We are pleased to announce a group exhibition dedicated to the genre of still-life in photography.
The term “still-life” originated in the 16th century in Netherlands and, by the 17th century, it had emerged as a distinct and specialised genre in Western painting. Many different types of still-life have developed since then, usually addressing the sensual perception of the viewer. Masters of still-life painting intended not only to create a hyper - realistic depiction of the world and to give a deceptively perfect illusion of reality, but to convey an often moral message through their use of certain symbols. Since 2005, Bernheimer has run a regular program of photography exhibitions. Under the leadership of Blanca Bernheimer the gallery has steadily grown over the last six years and today it is known as one of the leading photography galleries in Germany.

The program of the varying exhibitions sets diverse priorities: firstly, the gallery shows selected "classic" black and white photography from the 20th Century and secondly it presents young artists which are exhibited continuously by regular shows and trade fair presence.

Bernheimer Fine Art Photography is proud to announce an exhibition of Photographs by the English artist Veronica Bailey.
Modern Myths is Veronica Bailey’s latest body of work and again it is a meditative exercise focusing upon traditional yet increasingly threatened forms of human communication and knowledge dissemination. Where 2 Willow Road and Hours of Devotion took the book and Postscript the more delicate nature of letters, Modern Myths takes newsprint as its trigger.
Newspapers are intrinsically ephemeral wedges of low-grade paper written and designed to pass on only the most recent take on an ever evolving and devolving news story. They are the essence of cheap, disposable pulp, their shelf life barely even 24 hours. But in that time, in one way or another, the whole broad spectrum of the human ex...
