Brigitte Bardot and the Original Paparazzi. An exhibition of rare original vintage photographs
Coinciding with the 75th Birthday of Brigitte Bardot on 28th September 2009, James Hyman Gallery presents an exhibition of 75 vintage photographs by some of the most famous paparazzi photographers.
Presented at the same time as London Fashion Week (18-22 September) Brigitte Bardot and the Original Paparazzi focuses on one of the greatest fashion icons of the twentieth century.
The exhibition includes iconic images as well as rare works that have never been exhibited or published.
Timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the birth of the paparazzi, the exhibition traces the development of a whole new aesthetic and genre of photography. Pigozzi and the Paparazzi
With the current exhibition the "bad boys" of photography are the subject of an extensive show for the first time in Germany. Paparazzi photography is an aggressive form of photojournalism, particularly today when the famous names in show business are hunted down and pushed into dangerous situations for the sake of getting the most interesting picture possible. In the 1960's and 1970's, the "classic" era of the paparazzi, the combination of voyeurism and exhibitionism, whereby photographers lie in wait for the stars to make their public appearance, was less strident and loud. Inventiveness, speed and persistence, along with a touch of cheekiness--put to use at the Cannes Film Festival, or on the Via Veneto in Rome--was usually enough to guarantee good results.

Invité à Nice par deux lieux emblématiques consacrés à l’image, Henry Chapier, homme de cinéma, a réalisé pour l’occasion un Casting de Stars à dimension internationale. Deux événements qui se dérouleront simultanément pendant l’été autour de la photographie et du cinéma.
