Géraldine Lay

Géraldine Lay est née en 1972. Diplômée de l'Ecole Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie en 1997, elle vit et travaille à Arles. Après une formation aux métiers du livre à Nantes (CECOFOP), elle commence en 1998 à travailler aux Editions Actes Sud où elle est aujourd'hui responsable de fabrication. En 2002, elle est nominée à la bourse du Talent FNAC. Munie d'un appareil compact qu'elle emporte partout, elle guette des petits évènements, des lumières, des lieux, qui décident de la photographie. Nelly Gabriel écrit à son sujet : « Un regard aigu […] qui extrait de la réalité un objet, une scène, un personnage, mais tout aussi bien un moment, pour les donner à voir en tant que sujet dans des cadrages souvent serrés, des angles de vue étudiés, des lumières

Nge Lay

Nge Lay is a Yangon-based multi-media artist with a particular interest in performance and photography. Using everyday imagery and settings to translate her ideas about life, her country and her own identity, she creates photographs that hover between the descriptive and the spiritual. When photographing her subjects, Nge Lay plays with light and shadow in new ways to create the quiet but expectant tension that characterizes her colour prints. Nge Lay showed photographs in the exhibition ‘Transportasian- Visions of Contemporary Photography from Southeast Asia’ at the Singapore Art Museum in 2009.

She recently took part in the collective exhibition, organised by Filippo Maggia and Mariella Poli, entitled "Fragments of urban life", at the Italian Institute of Culture and the City Hall Art Space, San Francisco 2005.
