Earth’s atmosphere is steadily warming due to greenhouse gas emissions. While experts discuss the possible consequences and politicians are apparently powerless to do anything about it, untold numbers of people are already struggling with the devastating impact of a climate gone haywire. One of the greatest floods in the history of the region destroyed the home and business owned by Yang Gengbao and his wife in the Chinese province of Guangxi. The drying up of Lake Chad means that Abakar Maydocou Mahamat can no longer earn his livelihood as a fisherman. Margaret Aliurtuq Nickerson from western Alaska will soon have to leave her village, Newtok, since the ground is thawing, causing homes and streets to sink.

La 24ème édition du Festival International du photojournalisme Visa pour l'image 2012, se tiendra du 1er septembre au 16 septembre 2012 à Perpignan.
Alors que l'on célébrait le 3 mai dernier la journée mondiale de la liberté de la presse, deux journalistes sont retrouvés morts le lendemain près de Veracruz au Mexique, leurs corps démembrés ont été retrouvés par la marine mexicaine à Boca del Rio, près du port de Veracruz, dans l'est du Mexique, cinq jours seulement après l'assassinat d'une autre journaliste dans la même région.

Nowadays, China is a country full of contrasts, thanks to its cultural diversity and unhindered growth. Its economic power’s benefits have paved the way for the modernization of the country and for the wealth of some of its inhabitants, whilst exacerbating disparities. The Swiss photographers Mathias Braschler and Monika Fischer ventured to meet this many sided community, encountering people from different geographical and social backgrounds.
In June 2007, a year before the Olympic Games, the Swiss photographers Mathias Braschler and Monika Fischer traveled to Beijing there to start an epic journey through China, covering 30 out of 34 provinces, independent cities and autonomous regions, they were on the road for more than seven months, traveled over 30 000 kilometers and visited many remote and untouched areas,... - Exposition

Les photographes suisses Mathias Braschler et Monika Fischer sont partis à la rencontre d’un peuple aux 1000 facettes, issu de différentes origines géographiques et sociales.
