Mark Curran #Photographe
rlandais d'origine, Mark Curran vit et travaille présentement à Berlin. Il enseigne la photographie et détient une maîtrise en philosophie du Center for Transcultureal Research and Media Practice du Dublin Institute of Technology et un diplôme en photographie de Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology (Dublin). Son travail a fait l'objet d'expositions en Europe, notamment en Allemagne, en Irlande, en Italie, en France, en Grande-Bretagne et en Belgique, de même qu'en Syrie. The Breathing Factory est sa première exposition au Canada. Une monographie sur son travail sera publiée en 2006 par Belfast Exposed et The Gallery of Photography (Dublin). Mark Curran est représenté par le galerie van der grinten de Cologne.

Festival Data rush : Noorderlicht international photofestival Noorderlicht returns with DATA RUSH to the Old Sugar Factory in Groningen for the 22nd Noorderlicht International Photofestival. In the same-titled main exhibition, internationally renowned photographers and multimedia artists take stock of the digital era. DATA RUSH is coupled with two sideline exhibitions and an in-depth programme focusing on the theme of privacy and surveillance.

In her position as Artistic Director of Sirius Arts Centre in Ireland for over 8 years, Peggy Amison has curated numerous visual arts exhibitions with artists from around the world. She also facilitates the development of new works through the international artist-in-residency programme at Sirius, often partnering artists and organizations together on projects. Peggy has also written critical essays and reviews for numerous publications internationally. An important part of her work at Sirius is focused on raising the level of discourse about photography in Ireland.

THE BREATHING FACTORY critically addresses the role and representation of labour and global labour practices in Ireland's newly industrialised landscape as manifest in manufacturing and technology. Global industrial practices are characterised by ‘fleeting alliances’ (O’Riain 2000); transient spaces as capital moves when and as required. In such an ephemeral and global context, the project focuses specifically upon the Hewlett-Packard Manufacturing and Technology Campu...Exposition The Breathing Factory - Mark Curran Bienvenue à la Breathing Factory : un site effervescent de production industrielle qui obéit directement, au souffle près, aux demandes du marché; un espace qui modifie, sur-le-champ, sa capacité de production de façon à maintenir la supériorité de ses compétences. Lorsque le processus de production doit se conformer aux exigences de l'industrie, les conditions de travail de la main-d'œuvre doivent forcément s'adapter pour satisfaire aux structures variables des économies mondiales dominantes.
L'objectif de l'usine est donc de se soumettre à ce rythme respiratoire.
