Born in Senigallia, where he lives and works. He began his activity as a photographer in 1991, experimenting both in black and white and colour. In the same year, he obtains a degree in sociology, with a dissertation on the history of photography "Il gruppo Misa a Senigallia". Always attracted by photography as well as cinema, Lorenzo Cicconi Massi has written and directed radio programmes; in 1987-1990, he writes, directs and plays his first short film followed by others created for television and school. He moves to the United States in 1992 to continue his photographic research. Here he realizes many music videos and adverts. He has written, shot and self-produced the short movie « Il Tetto », that was selected at the Séns Festival in France. His series «I campi e le strade per giocare» is selected for the 1995 edition of the competition «Pépinière européennes pour jeunes artistes» in Paris. In 1999 he achieves the Italian CANON prize for best photographic portfolio. Mario Giacomelli, Denis Curti, Olivo Barbieri and journalist-director Maurizio Liverani they have been writing about his works.
Today he divides himself between cinema and photography. He's beginning to shoot a feature film with a screenplay he wrote by himself. His most recent works show young people at the beginning of the millenium, young people wandering about the streets of Italy looking for places and people, ideas to gather arond, to become tribes, clans.
