Exhibition : A portrait of a lady at Podbielski Contemporary
Podbielski Contemporary devotes the next two weeks, as a special event, to a feminine view on contemporary portrait photography. Four acknowledged artists approach the theme in a most original way of representation, each of them influenced by their geographical and ethnical roots. This thematic exhibition brings together local realities from Germany/Romania, Israel, Iran and South-Korea. The Presentation, an exhibition by Loredana Nemes
The solo exhibition of Berlin-based photographer Loredana Nemes will open at the gallery Podbielski Contemporary on 21 November 2014. The show will present a series that the artist created this year, titled The Presentation.
As Carnival season transformed the streets in western Germany, Loredana Nemes set up a chair before a black backdrop at the Aachen City Hall, and began alluring people out of the chaos, inviting them to be photographed. Her goal was to find out if, under the protection of a costume, a certain un-masking might occur. If, called forth through the extroverted whirlwind of the ongoing festivities, something that usually goes unseen might become visible: in this exceptional situation of opening up to the world, she might succeed in revealing some of the infinite diversities of the human soul. Ce festival qui a lieu tous les ans en Arles se veut un chantier d'expérimentations de la photographie contemporaine. Du 3 au 10 juillet, le festival Voies Off fête son 15e anniversaire en mêlant découvertes photographiques et rencontres conviviales... Au programme, des projections, la remise des Prix Voies off, une grande soirée Arlésienne et plus de 1.000 rendez-vous organisés lors des lectures de portfolio. En 2010, Voies Off a reçu 1100 candidatures en provenance de 60 pays. Parmi eux 66 dossiers ont été sélectionnés pour faire partie de la programmation des soirées de projections du Festival Voies Off....
