Fabrice Mabillot was born in the Sixties in south of France where he spent a nice childhood with his sisters and mother. Things became more complicated with school, but soon enough, he travelled to Paris where he completed his studies at l'Ecole Supérieure des Arts Modernes.
Freelance, never wondering if things would be difficult for him, Fabrice became an Artistic Director working for advertising agencies and studios. Over the next twenty years he became one of the most active and sought-after Artistic Directors in Paris.
Photography came to Fabrice with the turn of the century and since 2000, he had used photography as a tool and an obsession. Fabrice often says that he is «photographer of girls… and of somewhere else.» On the one hand, he is a fashion photographer and on the other, he discovers West Africa and falls in love with Mali. Since 2006, he has returned to Mali every six months to shoot, creating over time his «Portrait of Mali» the subject of a forthcoming book and an exhibition.
In 2007, Fabrice purchased a Polaroid SX70 on Ebay and once again found an obsession. With this new camera, Fabrice has the feeling that all becomes natural: the right instant, the right light, everything once again comes to him when he presses the red button… «comme une evidence», as the French say for a love story that works simply and magically. That's it!
