Photographe et cinéaste, Franco-Espagnol, né le 12 janvier 1955.
Son engagement politique pendant la Guerre du Vietnam dans les années 70 lui a permis de découvrir le pouvoir des images et l'influence qu'elles peuvent avoir sur certains événements. C'est ce qui lui a donné l'envie de travailler dans le photojournalisme et la réalisation de documentaires. Ses reportages et ses films sont consacrés à des situations politico-sociales extraordinaires. La filmographie de Christian Poveda comprend 16 documentaires qui ont été présenté dans les plus prestigieux festivals et marchés TV dont "La Vida Loca" lancée pendant le Festival International de San Sebastian 2008.

La Vida Loca is a study of a violent phenomenon that has been imported from the USA. In Central America they are referred to as the maras: modelling themselves on Los Angeles youth gangs, these groups are now spreading terror in El Salvador and further afield.
