Alvin Langdon Coburn (11 juin 1882, Boston, États-Unis - 23 novembre 1966, Nordwales, Grande-Bretagne) était un photographe américano-britannique. Il a réalisé ses premières photographies en 1898. Partisan du Pictorialisme, il est persuadé que la photographie récèle autant de moyens d'expressions que la peinture. Il sera en 1902 l'un des premiers membres de la Photo-Secession. Il se spécialise dans le portrait et photographie nombres d'artistes, d'écrivains et de comédiens, Rodin, Henry James, Mark Twain... En 1916 il fonde le groupe Pictorial Photographers of America. Inspiré par le cubisme il réalise l'année suivante ses premières photographies abstraites.

Basel, Switzerland – Exhibiting for the 21st year at Art Basel, Hans P. Kraus Jr. Fine Photographs will present landmark works from the early history of photography. Signature images will be on view from such important innovators as William Henry Fox Talbot, Hippolyte Bayard, Anna Atkins and Gustave Le Gray as well as works by early 20th century masters such as Alvin Langdon Coburn and Heinrich Kühn.

The Art Library is reopening its newly reconstructed Kaisersaal (Emperor's Hall) at the Museum of Photography with a show of hidden treasures of architectural photography from the collections of the National Museums. Nearly all of the individual museums have acquired since some 150 years photographs. The genre of architectural photography is especially prominent represented. TOKYO PHOTO 2009 endeavors to be the foremost art fair of photography in Japan. The venue is located in the heart of international business and culture in Tokyo. To be held from September 4 to 6, Tokyo Photo 2009 will provide visitors with a unique opportunity to see and buy a wide range of photographic works from vintage prints to cutting-edge digitally enhanced images.
With the support of the US Embassy and in collaboration with the Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego, Tokyo Photo will mount a special exhibition entitled Photo America.
