Uno Art Space Ute Noll, Liststrasse 27 70180 Stuttgart Allemagne
The UNO ART SPACE – Ute Noll will be presenting for the first time in Germany the color photographs of the American artist Cynthia Greig. On exhibit will be her series “Life-Size” (2001 – 2003) and “Representations” (2002 – to present). The exhibition will open on Saturday, November 8 and close on February 8, 2009.
Both Life-Size and Representations deal with objects from daily life. “Life-Size” plays with the shifting of scales and depicts miniature objects and normal-sized household articles or people in the same image. For her “Representations” series, Cynthia Greig painted household objects white and then drew in the outlines for the camera. What emerged are meditative still lifes with shifted perspectives. Her motifs wander between photography, paintings, sculpture, installations and drawings. Cynthia Greig challenges our viewing habits and examines how perception constructs reality. Cynthia Greig has already participated in solo and group exhibitions in the USA, Brazil, Argentina, France and England; she’s won numerous awards and fellowships, and her work is represented in numerous public and private collections, such as the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, TX, George Eastman House, Rochester, NY and the Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago,
IL, Smith College Museum of Art, Northampton, MA, and Wellington Management, Boston MA.
