
This is England in the late nineteenth century through the eyes of the photographic survey movement. In 1879 Sir Benjamin Stone announced the formation of the National Photographic Record Association. Its objective was to make a record of England for future generations. This book examines Stone's central role in the project and presents over 120 of his photographs.
