…for most…this 51-year retrospective and the hefty little catalog…will be their first glimpse of his important, powerful body of work.
David Goldblatt (b.1930) began photographing in the 1960s. Since then, he has produced a body of work that is a fascinating study of life in South Africa during and after apartheid. His images, which have been described as 'acute in historical and political perception', reveal the system's origins, complexities and nuances.
