Erik Niedling (*1973) dismantles the visable world and reassembles its components according to his own perspective. His photo series changes our value system. Niedling interprets the German forest as a lumber plantation. He transforms the ideal world of great- grandparents that we know from black and white photos into a vibrating beacon of light and shadow.
Erik Niedling's new series "STATUS" is about a place that promises eternity. This promise is deceptive: in the rooms, storage depots and passageways of a museum, things are turned upside down. Reconstruction has plunged the natural order of centuries into complete dissarrangement. Statues are stacked together, pictures lined-up, objects are wrapped and inlays are hidden. The construction site and the artworks are caught in a bizarr proximity. A hint of misdoing lies in the air.
