This is an annual award. Photographers over 18 years of age can enter the competition. Monochrome Awards is accepting images from the following categories: Architecture, Abstract, Conceptual, Beauty/ Fashion, Fine Art, Landscapes, Nude, Nature, People, Photomanipulation, Photojournalism, Portrait, Wildlife.Winners of both the professional and amateur sections will receive the following titles: Monochrome Discovery of the Year and Monochrome Photographer of the Year plus cash prizes.
The competition is open to all levels of expertise, points of view, and ideas of black and white photography.
The overall winner of the amateur section wins:
- Title: Monochrome Discovery of the Year 2016
- Cash prize of $1,000
- Online Winners Gallery showcase
- Featured Article on www.MonoVisions.com
- Photographic work included in the Monochrome Photography Awards Annual Book
- Extensive press coverage
- Winners logo and certificate

The three 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners (with others that the judges feel worthy of commendation) from both the professional and amateur sections get published in Monochrome Photography Awards Annual Book. Names of all the Honorable Mention winners will be also included in the book.
