The Bonifas Arts Center presents its first statewide juried photography competition for professional and non-professional photographers.

Photographers throughout Michigan are invited to similarly assess, through photography, the rapidly changing transitions in (the state’s) social, economic and cultural environment. The changing landscape and architecture brought about by the impact of new technology is a thought-provoking look at how the arts have an enduring effect on the chronicling of history and the historical moments that shape our daily lives in the 21st century.

With this competition, the Bonifas Arts Center extends it’s outreach statewide and continues surveying, presenting, and encouraging the growing interest in the field of photography.

ELIGIBILITY AND CONDITIONS
This competition is open to photographers 18 years and older. Work previously exhibited at the Bonifas Arts Center is not eligible. Accepted entries will need to be ready to display. Entries must have been completed within the last two years and you must be the photographer and owner of the copyright for any image.

It is understood that the Bonifas Arts Center has permission to reproduce image(s) for use in connection with this exhibit, the traveling exhibit and for promotional and educational uses only. Artists will receive credit.

All artwork will be returned in packaging provided by the artist.

TRAVELING EXHIBIT AWARDS
These awards feature award recipients in traveling exhibits:

Mission Point Resort, Mackinac Island: October 7 – 24, 2015
The DeVos Place, Grand Rapids: November 16 – December 28, 2015

All artwork considered must be available through the end of December and must have packing suitable for traveling.

ENTRY PROCEDURE
Artists are invited to submit up to three entries for jurying. For each entry, you may submit up to 3 images. Images should be submitted via email to submissions@bonifasarts.org.

Digital image files: 300 dpi JPG file no larger than 6” in its longest dimension. Label each JPEG image with

Entry number: 1, 2, 3; or 1a, 1b, etc., for multiple views;
Title of work

The judging will be based on three equally weighted criteria: creativity, originality and skill.
Images submitted must be an accurate representation of the work that will be shown. Once a piece has been juried into the show, no substitutions will be accepted.

SALES
The Bonifas Arts Center will retain a 30% commission on all artwork sold during the exhibit. Please price accordingly.

ENTRY FEES
Please submit the attached entry form with images. Entry fee can be made by calling the Bonifas Arts Center at 906-786-3833. Fee is nonrefundable.

$25 for Bonifas members for up to 3 entries
$30 for non-members for up to 3 entries

Diptychs and triptychs count as one piece

Entry Deadline: Noon on August 14, 2015. This is not a postmark date. Late entries can not be accepted.
