pour une approche partagée de la photographie à travers le festival 2006.
Le but de ce stage est d'utiliser les ressources de la semaine d'ouverture des Rencontres (expositions, projections, présences de praticiens de la photographie, travaux éventuels mais non obligatoires des stagiaires) comme support à une mise en contexte et réflexion sur la photographie contemporaine et sur la façon dont elle s'inscrit dans l'histoire du médium.
Seront abordés les rapports entre les photographies américaine et française, l'esprit et la production de l'agence « Magnum », la photographie concernée et humaniste, la photographie de paysage, la création photographique contemporaine.
Ce stage s'adresse à tous publics : praticiens, enseignants de la photographie ou tout simplement amateurs désirant approfondir leur connaissance et appréciation de la photographie d'art.
A Shared Approach to the Rencontres Photographiques d'Arles:
This workshop will base its approach to contemporary photography and its definition in the history of the medium on the resource offered by the opening week of the Arles festival (exhibitions, night showings, practitioners as well as possibly attendees' works.) It will consist in lectures, meetings with photographers and curators, contextualized critical discussions on the festival's exhibitions, night showings, and individual portfolios.
The workshop will address the following topics: the relationship between American and French photography, concerned and humanist photography, landscape photography, contemporary creative photography.
The workshop is open to all audiences.
The workshop will be in French and English.
Bruno Chalifour is a photographer, instructor, photography critic and historian. Bruno has been living in Rochester (NY) for the past 10 years during which he got an MFA from the State University of New York atBuffalo. He has taught at SUNY Buffalo, the University of Rochester, Visual Studies Workshop and Community Darkroom (Rochester, NY). From December 2003 to January 2005 he worked as the editor of Afterimage, a journal of analysis and criticism in the visual arts published by Visual Studies Workshop and launched in 1972 by Nathan Lyons, one of the founders of photographic education in the United States. He currently collaborates to various magazines: Afterimage and Choice (USA), Ciel Variable (Canada), Réponses Photo (France), and the websites www.photographie.com ‹http://www.photographie.com› and www.photophiles.com ‹http://www.photophiles.com›.
