This is where people meet and take leave of one another, the scene of tragic farewells and joyful reunions, where fates are decided and lives embark on a new course. Hardly surprising, then, that writers of all ages and all cultures have found the railway station to be a fitting stage for literary fiction. Christian Höhn, a photographer from Nuremberg, set out to create an artistic documentary of the sites of these emotional and literary moments. His large-scale photographs transcend the boundary between reality and poetry, creating surreal pictures of station buildings and allowing the viewer to join in his search for the great emotions of literature. The photos are accompanied by quotations and extracts from epic and lyric poems that tell of fates, emotions and changes at stations on five different continents.
The series of works comprise 14 large format photographs and light boxes.
A publication with the same title will be accompanying the exhibition, published by Verlag für moderne Kunst.
