McCord Museum 690 Sherbrooke Street West H3A1E9 Montreal Canada
In conjunction with the McGill College exhibition Harry Sutcliffe – Strolling Through Montreal, this event sheds light on the journey of a little-known photographer. It is an opportunity to become familiar with his full body of work, beyond his photographs of Montreal squares and parks. You will see Harry Sutcliffe’s first award-winning works in England before he immigrated to Trois-Rivières in 1910, his Mauricie landscapes and his many postcards of Montreal. Harry Sutcliffe’s archives – more than 2,000 photographs bequeathed to the McCord Museum by his descendants – illustrate a path taken by many British immigrants seeking a better life in Canada. What distinguished this adopted Montrealer was his fertile and unwavering passion for photography.McCord Museum 690 Sherbrooke Street West H3A1E9 Montreal Canada
