From October 15, 2014 to February 15, 2015, Jeff Chien-Hsing Liao will present Assembled Realities at The Museum of The City of New-York, a tremendous work done over a decade showing a new aspect of New-York. Museum of the City of New York 1220 Fifth Ave NY10029 New York États-Unis
Pushing the boundaries of traditional documentary photography, this Taiwanese artist (b. 1977) creates large-scale panoramas by combining multiple exposures of the same location taken over the course of several hours. The resulting composite photographs are often fantastical; complex, hyper-real views that no single shot—or the eye—could capture.
Each of Jeff Chien-Hsing Liao's works on view is comprised of dozens, if not hundreds of images compressed and then layered together. Why this technique you may ask. Well, Lio explained that others photographers already took great shots of the city leaving him no other choice but to have an original approach and show things differently.
Playing on focus and perspective, he's able to create a very complex and also humouristic image. But it took him months to edit his shots. Indeed, the process of the making is long.
