Opera Gallery 356 rue Saint-Honore? 75001 Paris France
The unprecedented portfolio of the contemporary French photographer Gérard Rancinan comes to the Opera Gallery. Known for his keen eye for detail, Rancinan has captured some of the most startling and impactful events from around the world from global devastation to earthquakes, celebrity personalities to contemporary luminaries.
This exhibition at the Opera Gallery showcases five very unique prints, displayed as a collective group in a gallery for the first time, after previously only being shown as solo prints in galleries and museums around the world. XXL presents images filtered through an ever-changing aesthetic prism. Creating photo shoots that parody fashion, materialism, capitalism and religion Rancinan re-creates scenes of classic masterpieces, subverting them and offering a very different perspective on the scenes. Each image is a reflection of contemporary culture, showing that this acclaimed photographer is constantly questioning and deconstructing the great sagas of contemporary life through his work.
