Whether it’s the exquisite weave in a bird’s feather, the sweet life lines in a newborn's palm, the determined jaw of a runner hurtling towards the finish line, or the uncertain smile of a young girl trying on womanhood, I am often intensely moved by what I see in the narrowed focus of my camera.
But I also love the art of photography. Painting with light. Composing space. Story-telling.
Any kind of shoot is an opportunity for adventure. Portraits of people and animals—both in the studio and in other environments—is always a wonderful challenge. Momentous events---sports competitions, reunions, birthday parties, graduations---are thrilling to capture. I also love photographing other art forms—architecture, sculpture, drawings and paintings. Personal treasures---a beloved teddy bear, a well-worn ballet slipper, a lucky baseball, a clay pot handcrafted for mother’s day---and intimate places, make heartfelt subjects as well.
