In the course of the portfolio review of the international photography festival Les Rencontres d'Arles 2012, photographer Marcel Pedragosa presented his work to the responsibles of Halsnøy Kloster – Sunnhordland Museum artist in residence program in Norway. Appreciating the quality of the artistic efforts of Marcel Pedragosa and the suitability of his candidature they short-listed him for a further final selection to be invited to the island of Halsnøy.

During September 2013 Marcel Pedragosa spent three weeks as an artist in residence at the Halsnøy monastery. In this period of time he developed a new photographic body of work based on portraying the natural heritage of the island. After the making of the images he did a first selection of twenty to edit and create a new series under the title Broader. Used to photograph people in big metropolis at rush hours, Halsnøy unfolded a complete different environment of work for Marcel Pedragosa’s urban background. Far from, traffic, noise and stress, these photographs reflect a place beyond a state of mind. Nature, harmony and equilibrium are some of the aspects poetically depicted in Marcel’s work produced into the broader Norwegian landscape. Only a few weeks ago the Maison de Norvège together with the Fondation Biermans-Lapôtre in Paris offered their spaces to install a double exhibition of part of this work. As a result, from the 4th of Mars to the 30th of April 2014 ten photographs will be on show at the Fondation Biermans-Lapôtre. At its time the Maison de Norvège will host this exhibition form the 2nd of May to 30th of June 2014.
