Twin Palms Publishers 54 1/2 East San Francisco Street 87501 Santa Fe, New Mexico États-Unis
Over the course of six years, Malerie Marder photographed prostitutes in the Netherlands. During that time, she meditated on the thin separation between the two sides of her camera–the sliver of fortune that separated her from the world of the women she photographed. The photographs that resulted don’t raise awareness or work as documents; rather, they toggle between reality and a mythical space.
Malerie Marder received her BA in history and art from Bard College and her MFA from Yale University, where she was awarded the Schickle-Collingwood Prize and the John Ferguson Weir Award. Her solo exhibitions include (upcoming) Leslie Tonkonow Artworks + Projects, Salon 94 and Greenberg Van Doren in New York; Blain/Southern, Maureen Paley, and the Photographer’s Gallery in London; and Galerie Gabriel Rolt, Amsterdam. Her work is in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York; the National Gallery of Art, the American University Museum, and the Concoran Gallery of Art in Washington, DC; the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne; the Seattle Art Museum; and the Hessel Museum of Art at Bard College, among others. She is repre- sented by Leslie Tonkonow Artworks + Projects.
