Susan kae Grant’s photographic and book-works are included in numerous collections including, The George Eastman House, The J. Paul Getty Museum, The Minneapolis Art Institute, The Tokyo Museum of Photography, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and The Victoria and Albert Museum National Library.
Grant received an MFA in Photography and Book Arts in 1979 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has conducted workshops, lectured and exhibited her work throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, British Columbia, Africa and Japan. Since 1975, Grant has produced 13 limited edition handmade books. She has actively participated on the board of directors of the Society for Photographic Education and various other community service organizations.
In 2003, she was the recipient of a public art commission in which she served as the designer for the Southwestern Medical District/Parkland Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Station, which opened December of 2010.
From 1979-1981, Grant taught as a faculty member at Wayne State University. In 1981she joined the faculty at Texas Woman’s University where she currently serves as head of Photography and Book Arts. She is on the staff of the International Center of Photography where she teaches workshops annually. In 2003 and 2005, she was the recipient of the Society for Photographic Education “Freestyle Crystal Apple Award” and “The Excellence in Photographic Teaching Award” in 2004 from the Santa Fe Center for Photography.
