Allentown Art Museum of the Lehigh Valley 31 North Fifth Street Allentown, PA 18101 États-Unis
An exciting selection of photographs from our vaults--most of which have never been displayed--will be featured in Payne Hurd Gallery this fall. Focusing on American gelatin silver prints from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, this exhibition showcases the strength of our photography collection.
The Museum's photography collection began with a gift from Audrey and Bernard Berman and purchases from the Priscilla Payne Hurd Fund. Additional purchases from the Pennsylvania Photographers juried exhibitions that spanned a twenty-year period ending in 1997 as well as from a number of generous gifts augmented our holdings. Today the Museum has almost five hundred photographs, most of which are American. Hidden Treasures includes prints by master photographers Berenice Abbott, Ansel Adams, Margaret Bourke-White, Edward Weston, Garry Winogrand, Larry Fink, and Judith Joy Ross--the last two being residents of the Lehigh Valley. This exhibition is the Museum's 2013 contribution to the lnVision Photography celebration.
