"Figures of Flight, vanishing points"
Human silhouettes opal-hued and phantom-like, in flight, in variously composed scenes...they draw the eye deeply into the scene, beyond the image, pulling the viewer in, toward the distant, in slow motion...the picture disturbs with a world on the verge of implosion, where the only way out for the human is flight.
This new series of photo-pictures* and digital painting by Alain Galet is a paradigm for the contemporary world. Man, his body, and his physical sensations are at the center of these photo-pictures*...arranged in an unforgiving environment.

Alain Galet makes his digital photography a plastic material, something to be triturated and retouched, creating electronic painting. Photography is the stuff [or matter, or paint], the color [or pigment], and the binder of these images. It is a technique proudly on display. It is an image concealing none of its pixels and proclaiming its method of creation: edited, mounted, reality retouched. It is a new photographic form rebelling against conventional photographic "realism."
