The Wapping Project Bankside 37 Dover Street, Ely House W1S 4NJ London Royaume-Uni

The photographs in Falling: A Part, Thomas Zanon-Larcher’s first solo exhibition at The Wapping Project Bankside, recall the work of Claude Chabrol or Ingmar Bergman: dramas, even melodramas, which nonetheless examine existential anxieties. The exhibition gathers images of women living ordinary lives, testing the boundaries of fear, transgression, escape and pursuit in contemporary society. Walking away, getting out, escaping…a woman looks over her shoulder in a tram in Vienna, an other searches in Smithfield. Thomas Zanon-Larcher’s work scrapes away at ordinary fears, commonplace fantasies, catching at nerve ends. In Falling: A Part the space between film, drama and reality is blurred.

About Thomas Zanon-Larcher

Thomas Zanon-Larcher has had solo exhibitions in major galleries and museums in Tokyo, Warsaw, Milan, Antwerp and London. His work is distinguished by both un-staged and narrative images which capture his protagonists’ isolation, often fixing moments of introspection and solemnity as they turn or move away from the camera. He has shot consistently in London, Paris and Milan, working for the Gucci Group (Gucci, YSL, Sergio Rossi, Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, Bottega Veneta and Balenciaga), Yohji Yamamoto, Dries van Noten, Haider Ackermann, Paul Smith, Martin Margiela, Hussein Chalayan and Lanvin amongst others. His photographs are published widely in the works of the designers with whom he collaborates and in his commissioned projects for international publications. He continues his collaboration with McQueen. His extended narratives are published independently under the Browns Imprint.
