Kahmann Gallery celebrates the beginning of summer with an exhibition about nature with work by Anne Geene, Katrien Franken and Paul den Hollander.
For years, Kahmann Gallery has been involved with beauty and in this case the beauty of nature. In the exhibition Still - Love - Nature we will highlight a few extremes and perhaps even answer the question to what extent we can talk about extremes.
Anne Geene
In Still – Love – Nature we will show a selection from Plot # 235, Encyclopedia of a public garden, 2009 – 2010. For this publication Geene (1983) explored her 245m2 rented piece of public garden for a period of two years. She captured everything she found, from the roots to the raindrops and from the bacteria to the birds in the sky. Not only the species, but also the colours and shapes were given attention. Even the behaviour of the garden was examined, the holes that the caterpillars left behind were not forgotten. With utmost precision Geene succeeded in presenting a complete image of her garden. But at the basis of her scientific reasoning are her personal observations. Geene plays with the scientific language that has the ability to be interpreted as "true" and gives her own distinctive version of an encyclopedia. The book has won several prizes.
Paul den Hollander
Time, space and the relationship between human and nature are important themes in the work of Paul den Hollander. Den Hollander is an artist whose photographs show us that there is more to life than what we are able to see with our eyes. Den Hollander has been working as a photographer since the beginning of the 1970s and has build up a huge oeuvre. In the exhibition Still – Love - Nature Kahmann Gallery will show work from two of his series; 'Voyage Botanique' (1992–1994) and 'The Luminous Garden' (2010-now). Wonderful work that shows his love for nature.

Katrien Franken (1971) is an observer, looking at life from the sideline. She pays special attention to her surroundings and allows her subjects to speak for themselves. Franken is self-taught and has only since 2006 focused fully on photography. It is interesting to see how her work is still developing as she grows increasing closer to her subjects. Regardless of the subject, her eye is very accurate. Caught in aesthetic beauty, seeming coincidental moments are deliberately chosen with great accuracy.
