Toshio Shibata
The Wouter van Leeuwen Gallery, in collaboration with Studio Equis, presents a solo exhibition of the work of Toshio Shibata.
One of the masters of the large format camera, Toshio Shibata has made the landscape and infrastructure of Japan his subject for over three decades. This exhibition will feature both his black-and-white and colour work spanning his entire career, focusing on the theme of water, a central subject in his work. Toshio Shibata's work is held in major ublic collections throughout the world including the Centre Pompidou, Paris, the J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. In 2008 a major retrospective of his work, Landscape, was held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography.
