Kotelna Karlin Gallery Pernerova 55 180 00 Prague République tchèque
The current exhibition Prague photographer Pavel Mara in the Kotelna Karlin Gallery is a cycle figures Memory of 2009, the first on the author's exhibition in the Gallery of Fine Art in Karlovy Vary in the previous year. Until now, widespread exposures were also included in the two images larger than life size (Memory XIV and XV, 280 x 420 cm) dominating the collection, which includes nearly two dozen large-format canvases. Mara‘s studies of naked human bodies and their mutual interactions in an abstract space defined feature in the negative reciprocal of color, applied has in its cycle of the Madonna of 1999. Author's interest in terms of volumes in the desktop image, occurring in Mechanical valued corpus of the late 90th years, is present even in Memory. Formal similarity to painting supports printing archival pigments on canvas, although there is still a clear intention to maintain the purity unmanipulated photographic record. More creative inspiration is for Pavel Mara building former industrial boiler, adapted to the architecturally unique exhibition space.
