Jean-François Bouchard is interested in the parallel worlds that surround us and is inspired by marginalized people who use new types of communication to build social links. Still Life explores these surprising relationships that some people carry on with realistic erotic dolls that go well beyond sexuality. The number of men who purchase these life-size rubber replicas of women and treat them like girlfriends in a relationship continues to grow. Portraits of these latex ladies are presented in colour images in large format photographs. Although anchored in a documentary-style approach, this photographer reveals a rather abstract, contemporary perspective of his subjects.
